This seasons drama and literature group will starting up August 30th and 31st from 2-4pm for a registration and informational gathering with Auditions for parts being held September 6th from 2-4:45pm. (East Winthrop Baptist Church) From September through February we will be meeting Thursdays from 2-4:45 pm weekly. There will be a vacation break from November 16th till January 2nd to observe the holidays. Participants should obtain a Foldgers edition copy of the Tempest, and are encouraged to read it over the summer to be familiar with the text ahead. Sign ups start now and run through August 30th. This program involves both study of the text and practices for public shows held at public schools and the beautiful Cumston Hall in Monmouth. Our schedule will pick up to twice a week in March to help students prepare for live shows, and we will have a week long program at Cumston hall we call "crunch week" in which students are able to pull together everything they learned in the week before the show. Live shows will be held the weeks of March 25th -April 6th. Parents are encouraged to participate at practices by taking on tasks to help the program run smoothly for the students. Students are encouraged to learn various aspects of theater from acting to marketing, arts, stage direction, and lighting.
"Cumston Hall" is one of the crown jewels of Maine. To the chance passerby it comes as a startling surprise, towering dramatically over Main Street. Its exquisite stained glass windows and asymmetrical design capture the imagination. Theater enthusiasts from all over New England know the hall as the home to the Theater At Monmouth, Maine's Shakespearean theater. But for Monmouth's residents, regular visitors and longtime friends, Cumston Hall is more than a remarkable building or intimate theater- it represents the heart and center of the Town of Monmouth."
